Our second collaboration is with Isabelle Carr. Painter, artist and now firm friend, it has been such a joy to mindfully create together on these two very special, limited edition bandanas.

Isabelle’s work draws from artefacts, environments and objects found in the past and present day, looking towards rituals and domesticity with her signature palette and mark making, to embody how our possessions and surroundings can bring us comfort and pleasure.

The spiral bandana comes from one of Carr’s paintings inspired by an ancient plate and the iconography of spirals throughout history, representing growth and evolution, journey and eternity.

This really resonated with Slow and Sow, and reminded us of our dye baths and pots used in the natural dye process; the magic of water and plants furling and unfurling around each other as they create colour.

The nettle bandana is dyed with early spring nettles, fresh from our garden in Sussex. These are one of the first dyes of spring when we started our initial conversations around our collaboration, and reminded Izy of memories growing up in the countryside picking nettle flowers.

All bandanas are roughly 50 x 50 cm and are made of cotton. Each bandana is unique, with different yet beautiful marks and colour variances from bandana to bandana, made in the dye bath.
